Long-term
care is therapeutic, rehabilitative, maintenance or
personal care services, delivered in a setting other
than a hospital.
Long-term care is for persons needing assistance with
the ordinary activities of daily living because of
functional impairments, or for persons needing
assistance or supervision because of cognitive
impairments.
This type of care is provided by nurses, therapists,
home health aides and other caregivers. It is not
necessarily provided by doctors, surgeons, chiropractors
or other medical professionals whose services are
normally covered by medical expense insurance.
Long-term care is typically provided is person's own
home, an adult day care center, an assisted living
facility or a nursing home. |
